Link-In to Your Story: Building Confidence, Connection and Career Clarity

There’s something powerful about taking a step back from the everyday rush to reflect on where we are, where we want to go, and what might be possible when we give ourselves the space to explore it.

That was the spirit behind Link-In to Your Story, our LinkedIn coaching event hosted at LinkedIn London HQ, where our community came together for an evening of practical coaching, honest conversations and meaningful connections.

The idea was simple: come as you are, bring whatever is on your mind, and leave with something practical you can take away and use.

What made the format particularly valuable was its intimate nature. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, the sessions created space for more focused conversations, tailored advice and practical next steps.

As one attendee reflected:

“The intimate nature really allowed the takeaways to be targeted and super helpful.”

Small actions, bigger possibilities

One of the things we love most about coaching is that the biggest shifts don’t always come from having every answer. Sometimes, they start with one new perspective, one practical tool or one small action that feels a little more achievable than it did before.

Across the session, attendees explored how to communicate their skills and experiences more confidently, make better use of LinkedIn, prepare for interviews and approach their career journeys with a fresh perspective.

For some, that meant thinking about LinkedIn as more than a place to update a CV. One attendee described the idea of:

“Posting on LinkedIn as a digital diary to record achievements I’d usually forget about.”

A simple but powerful reminder that our professional stories are being written all the time. By documenting our achievements, sharing our experiences and becoming more intentional about our professional presence, we can start to recognise the value of the work we do.

Others left with practical ideas around interview preparation, from using a guide to structure answers to recognising how skills gained through everyday life can translate into professional settings.

Confidence isn’t about having it all figured out

Alongside the practical tools, some of the most meaningful takeaways were about mindset. Career journeys rarely follow a straight line. There are moments of uncertainty, decisions that feel bigger than they are, and times when we question whether we’re ready for what comes next. Creating space to talk these things through can help us see our options differently. One attendee left with a reminder that:

“Very few decisions are irreversible.”

It’s a perspective that can make room for a little more curiosity, a little less pressure, and the confidence to take the next step without needing to know exactly how everything will unfold.

The power of being in the room

Of course, no WLGYL event would be complete without the connections made along the way. It’s a reminder that professional development doesn’t happen only through formal advice or structured learning. It can happen through hearing someone else’s story, asking a question, sharing a challenge or realising that someone across the room has experienced something similar.

Looking ahead

Link-In to Your Story was a reminder that sometimes, all we need is a little space to pause, reflect and look at our experiences differently.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their experiences and took the time to tell us what the session meant to them. A special thank you to the LinkedIn employees who led the coaching groups and helped create space for such thoughtful, practical conversations.

We’re so grateful to our community for continuing to show up, connect and grow with us.

Until next time,

Dunja
